Zika Rapid Detection Kit

The Zika Rapid Test is a chromatographic immunoassay kit for rapid and differential detection kit of the viral infection, zika, in human blood. This test is intended for professional use as an aid in the clinical laboratory diagnosis of patients with clinical symptoms consistent with zika disease. This test provides only a preliminary test result. Therefore, another method such as nucleic acid test must be used in order to obtain a confirmation of zika virus infection.

Zika virus (ZIKV) is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae and the genus Flavivirus. It is spread by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes, such as A. aegypti and A. albopictus. Its name comes from the Zika Forest of Uganda, where the virus was first isolated in 1947. Zika virus is a flavivirus and related to dengue, yellow fever, Japanese’s encephalitis, and West Nile viruses. Since the 1950’s, it has been known to occur within a narrow equatorial belt from Arica to Asia. From 2007 to 2016, the virus spread eastward across the Pacific Ocean to the Americas where the 2015-2016 Zika virus epidemic reached pandemic levels.
